Root Canal Therapy
Once upon a time, if your tooth had a damaged or infected nerve, you’d likely lose that tooth. Today, with a modern advancements in root canal therapy, it is possible to save that tooth.
Within each tooth is a pulp tissue that provides vitality to the tooth. It contains tiny nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatic tissue. When the pulp is badly injured or diseased, the pulp tissue dies and will never heal.
Unless the pulp is cleaned, removed, and sealed off, your tooth will become infected. This infection can cause an abscess resulting in pain, swelling, and further deterioration of the tooth and surrounding gums and jaw bone.
Antibiotics can temporarily help but ultimately root canal therapy is the only way to permanently get rid of the infection while being able to maintain your natural tooth.
